When I met with the leaders of Lumiere Montessori, it wasn’t the “Montessori” that caught my attention. Rather, it was in the way they held themselves, how they interacted with the children , the way they saw each child as a right to their own entity – not a factory to churn out colourless, faceless children who could recite the times table and ace every spelling test. What’s more, they stretch their hands to children with special needs – those that other schools gave up on – and this to me meant that not only did the school have a heart that knows no bounds, but that my children would also know what true diversity and acceptance meant. Both my children and I have developed a bond with the school that is indelible. They prepared my older child well for Primary school but more than that, they taught her how to be a good and kind person in this world that we live in. That, after all, should be our life’s aspiration.

This is our 5th year with Lumiere. I can probably write a book if I have to describe all the special and memorable events that Lumiere organised for the children and families. Lumiere isn’t just an institution and the teachers aren’t just educators. They are philosophers, life role models and ethics mentors. It’s a big family in Lumiere. Everybody knows everyone by their first names. Thanks to Lumiere, my now P1 child has good foundation of phonics which helps her excel in her English and understands Math questions easily. She left Lumiere as a much more confident, expressive and sociable child than when she first joined. A child does not lie about her emotions. Both of our children look forward to school every day and always have smiles on their faces whenever I pick them up. Kudos to Lumiere.

Lumiere Montessori House is a well-run preschool which imparts excellent values apart from the core teaching curriculum. Its culture, safe environment and teaching style strengthens and develops each child to his fullest potential.

I thank all the teachers for teaching my daughter how to do things herself instead of doing things for her. Thank you for the extra effort and patience given to guide her. I am glad that the school is doing it the way intended by Maria Montessori, “Teach me to do it myself.” My daughter has Down Syndrome. Being a mother to a child with Special Needs obviously puts me in constant worry that she may be hurt or intimidated. But everyone here, including the other children are thoughtful and respects my child as an individual. I am pleased to summarise my experience in Lumiere in these words – “my child is in good hands".

I would like to express my sincere appreciation to the group of professional teachers at Lumiere Montessori House, who has been a big part of my son's pre-school learning journey. We love the fact that the teachers have good communication skills, are caring yet firm with my boy at the same time. The Montessori way of learning has also helped to hone his language, creativity and communication skills and self-confidence. Lumiere Montessori House will always be my first choice of recommendation to any pre-schooler!

The teachers and staff of Lumiere are dedicated and unpretentious. As my son is a particularly sensitive child, he had a hard time adjusting to school, but his teachers were always there for him and also us parents. They were very encouraging and kept my husband and I updated about his development in school with photos and texts in the initial period. They were constantly on hand to advise us, suggesting ways in which we could help ease him into school and overcome the difficult first few weeks. My husband and I found these extra steps so helpful and meaningful and the guidance from the teachers helped us understand our son better as a person as well. In just those few months he was there, he grew more confident and self-assured and surprised us with this latent chatterbox nature! At Lumiere, it is clear that the primary focus is the well-being and growth and development of the child and we are extremely grateful that the teachers sought to nurture our son not just in their own way, but in the way he needed to be nurtured. Thank you very much from the bottom of our hearts and please keep up the excellent work.

My husband and I would like to thank all of you for giving our son a fantastic 5 years of his pre-school life! Thank you for your endless patience, genuine care and concern given to him. You have not only left a deep impression on him, but on me as well. A great job done!

Being at Lumiere has been such a wonderful experience for both boys and we are so grateful to have had this opportunity to be part of the Lumiere family for the past 5 years. I have been impressed with Lumiere since Day 1, from the quality of the teachers and the care they show the kids, to the constant interaction with parents and the fact that there is personal attention given to each and every child’s development. My older son was diagnosed with Aspergers and it was Lumiere that had the insight to highlight this possibility to me based on his teacher’s observations in school over a period of time. For this, I am so grateful to Lumiere as the teachers picked up the signs which we may not have identified otherwise. He has just completed his P1 in ACS and he is coping well. Work-wise, the year had been an absolute breeze for him and I attribute it largely to the good foundation that Lumiere has laid in terms of his reading, writing, and understanding of math concepts. Being at Lumiere has been a blessing for both my kids and they have grown so much in so many areas of their lives. Thank you Lumiere for doing such a fantastic job with my children!

Our son has grown and developed into a happy, self-assured and independent child in his 2 years in Lumiere. We are thankful to his teachers who provided a warm and nurturing learning environment. The school is very well run and has an excellent and systematic phonics programme grounded in the Montessori Method.

Our son used to have social issues and feeding difficulties. As a parent, I had problems looking for a right school for him. Finally at Lumiere Montessori House, he was given every opportunity to learn at his pace. The school is equipped with good, sincere teachers and even psychologists to help parents cope with their special needs children. With their help, my child is leaving school today without much social issues and he is eating very well too. The teachers were very understanding and offered as much help they could to parents. The school has provided him an environment to learn social skills and bring along with him even when he leaves.

I have seen significant development in our daughter's pre-writing, reading, Chinese and her creative skills since she joined your school. Thank you so much for looking after her so well and for making our family feel so welcome!

As our son moves into the next challenge in his life, I really want to shout out a huge 'Thank You'. The Bridging classes that he attended after normal school hours made a huge impact in his learning journey. He started out with difficulties remembering the phonics of each alphabet and ending the journey in Lumiere Montessori House being able to read simple sentences. The teachers provided consistent effort to keep him in check and interested. I am most appreciative for their patience and dedication. I highly recommend anyone who is facing challenges with their child to consider schooling at Lumiere Montessori House with the bridging classes.

At first, our daughter was nervous and scared for school. At that time she spoke little English, but that feeling disappeared since the first day she was in Lumiere. Day by day, she looked happier and more eager to go to school even on weekends. She is blessed with great teachers who understand her challenges. After 3 years of the sweet togetherness, our daughter has to move and face new grounds. Even till now she would say “I wish I can stay in Lumiere forever!"

I like the school’s small student-teacher ratio. This was to ensure that my daughter receives more attention and support from teachers, given that she can be hyperactive at times. The teachers are very caring and responsible. Most importantly, the teachers focus a lot on character development and give us feedback regularly. My daughter enjoyed her 4 years at Lumiere. In fact, she told me she would like to return to teach at the school one day when she grows up!

We thank you for taking good care of our two daughters. During this time, they have grown from shy quiet pre-schoolers into a confident young girls. We like that the school is not too large, allowing a more personal and interactive channel between parents and teachers. All students receive individual attention and are treated, without exception, with kindness and respect. They also provide a full range of materials and activities and a well-balanced curriculum, which help the children develop social skills, knowledge and confidence to get them ready for Primary School. The level of care and dedication by Serene and all the staff is second to none.

We have been with Lumiere for 5 years now. We are impressed by the school’s cosy settings, commitment to age-appropriate Montessori based pedagogy, as well as caring teachers whom our children love and respect. Over the years, the school has been a safe, nurturing environment in which our children have grown to become independent and confident little girls who are passionate about learning.

Really appreciate your love and care towards my son these 2 years in Lumiere. I can see in all of you, the love you have for the children. He has taken to all of you and looks forward to school every day! Thank you from the bottom of my heart.
